All three of our surgeons are graduates of Granbury High School and Abilene Christian University. Dr. Caleb Sawyer completed his medical and ophthalmology training at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Dr. William Sawyer attended medical school at UNT TCOM and went on to pursue ophthalmology training at Schrimpf Eye Center in Dayton, Ohio and a cornea fellowship at The Ohio State University. Dr. Colton McCoy attended medical school at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and continued his ophthalmology residency with Emory Eye Center followed by his cornea training with the University of Colorado.  With state-of-the-art equipment, an inviting clinic atmosphere and a genuine interest in the well-being of their patients, these doctors proudly offer the very best in vision care.

Caleb Sawyer, M.D.

Caleb Sawyer, M.D., is a board-certified comprehensive ophthalmologist—a medical and surgical eye physician. Dr. Sawyer graduated from Granbury High School before attending Abilene Christian University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.

He then attended Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center where he received a Doctorate of Allopathic Medicine (MD) and Masters of Business Administration in Health Organization Management in 2002.  He then continued his medical training at Texas Tech completing an internship in Internal Medicine and a residency in Ophthalmology in 2006.

Dr. Sawyer is an active fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Texas Medical Association, and the Texas Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.  He is proud to provide care to our military veterans through collaboration with the VA medical system & is also committed to providing critically needed eye surgery through medical missions to developing countries.

William Sawyer, D.O.

William Sawyer, D.O. is a board-certified fellowship trained ophthalmologist. Dr. Sawyer is a refractive surgery and cornea transplant specialist. Before medical school, Dr. Sawyer graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Abilene Christian University, in Abilene, Texas.

He graduated from the University of North Texas Health Science Center- Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth, Texas. Dr. Sawyer served his ophthalmology residency at Grandview Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. He went on to advance his training by completing a fellowship in Cornea and External Diseases of the Eye at The Ohio State University.

Dr. Sawyer is a three time recipient of the Patrick Murray Award in recognition for the highest ophthalmology exam scores among osteopathic physicians in the United States. During his time at Ohio State he was recognized as The Teaching Fellow of the Year for his ability to teach residents and further their knowledge in ophthalmology.

Colton McCoy, M.D.

.Colton McCoy, M.D., is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in refractive corneal and cataract surgery and a proud Granbury native. Dr. McCoy graduated Summa Cum Laude from Abilene Christian University with dual degrees in Biology and Spanish. He then earned his Doctorate of Allopathic Medicine (MD) and an MBA from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center where he graduated at the top of his class and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.

Dr. McCoy completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Emory University Hospital, followed by an Ophthalmology residency at the Emory Eye Center. He pursued further specialization with a fellowship in Cornea, Refractive Surgery, and External Disease at the University of Colorado, where he gained advanced experience performing LASIK, PRK, and EVO ICL surgeries for Air Force personnel.

As an active member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the Cornea Society, Dr. McCoy stays at the forefront of advancements in the field of ophthalmology. He is dedicated to serving the communities of Granbury and Weatherford by providing personalized, high-quality eye care.

Cary S. Labbe, O.D.

Cary S. Labbe, O.D., is a board-certified therapeutic optometrist and optometric glaucoma specialist at Sawyer Eye Center. She joined the practice in August 2021 and has over 40 years of experience in cataract evaluations, diabetic eye exams, glaucoma management, and dry eye treatment.

Dr. Labbe earned her Doctor of Optometry degree Magna Cum Laude from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 1977. She spent several years as an Associate Professor before running a successful private practice in Mineral Wells, Texas, for four decades. Her passion lies in guiding patients through cataract surgery, from preoperative assessments to postoperative care.

Dr. Labbe is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Texas Optometric Association. She has also been recognized for her academic achievements as a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa and Gold Key International Optometric Honor Societies.

Jamie Elkins, O.D.

Dr. Jamie Elkins, Optometrist, grew up in the Texas Hill Country before attending Texas A&M University, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science. It was during her time at Texas A&M that she decided on a career in eye care. 

She studied Optometry at Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in Florida, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Vision Science and a Doctor of Optometry degree. 

While at NSUCO, Dr. Elkins completed externships in Indian Health Services, glaucoma/macular degeneration, pediatrics, and contact lenses.
Dr. Elkins is an active member of the American Optometric Association, along with the Texas Optometric Association.
